UK. London Heathrow Airport has unveiled Mr. Men-themed activities, a free dining offer for children, and family-friendly Wi-Fi as it prepares for half-term week.
Heathrow’s Mr. Men characters – Mr. Adventure and Little Miss Explorer – will visit the terminals with passenger ambassadors between 13 and 23 February, encouraging children to take part in craft activities.
Heathrow said children could also access a new Mr. Men family portrait feature, which allows them to assign Mr. Men characters to family members and friends to create a personalised portrait.
The airport has brought back its popular ‘Kids Eat Free’ offer, which is available at selected restaurants across the terminals and applies when an adult also eats.
Heathrow has also introduced certified ‘Friendly WiFi’ across terminals this month. Its free Wi-Fi network will filter out inappropriate content and so is safe for children to use. The certification conforms to a government standard. The ‘Friendly WiFi’ symbol was created and launched in partnership with the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS).
“Our ambition is to provide the world’s best airport service for all our passengers – no matter their age,” said Heathrow Chief Commercial Officer Ross Baker. “We are delighted to welcome back our popular Mr. Men characters, family services and offers.
“As a parent myself, I am especially pleased that we now offer certified ‘Friendly WiFI’ which will keep our youngest passengers safe online, and give parents the reassurance and peace of mind they deserve in their travels through the airport.”
