Heinemann Australia opens departures and arrivals stores at Gold Coast Airport

Heinemann Australia Managing Director Richard Goodman said: “Our focus continues to grow profitability in this region and we see the Gold Coast Airport as an ideal location and perfect partnership for us.”

AUSTRALIA. Heinemann Australia today opened two duty free stores at Gold Coast Airport in Queensland, the retailer’s second location in Australia after Sydney Airport.

As reported, Heinemann was awarded the seven-year arrivals and departures duty free concession earlier this year.

Heinemann Australia Managing Director Richard Goodman said: “We are delighted to have a presence at this important airport, which is the gateway to Australia’s leading tourist destination. Sydney was a first – and very substantial – step for Gebr. Heinemann to enter the Australian market.

“Our focus continues to grow profitability in this region and we see the Gold Coast Airport as an ideal location and perfect partnership for us.”

Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton: “As one of the fastest-growing airports in Australia, we are constantly looking to enhance the travel experience and retail offering for our visitors.”

Heinemann Tax & Duty Free is offering all categories within its product range across approximately 430sq m in departures and 300sq m in arrivals. The offer is focused on spirits, wines and Champagne, as well as perfume and cosmetics. Both retail areas have been designed as walk-through shops.

Over 6.5 million passengers use Gold Coast Airport each year, with passenger numbers expected to surge to 16 million by 2037.

Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton said she was excited to be partnering with Heinemann as the airport enters a new growth phase.

“As one of the fastest-growing airports in Australia, we are constantly looking to enhance the travel experience and retail offering for our visitors,” she said.

Renovation of the stores has begun, with completion due in December. Following these initial renovations, and over the course of a planned terminal expansion, the stores will be “significantly” expanded and feature a new design concept by 2020.
