HUNGARY. Gebr Heinemann is set for the debut of its Heinemann Duty Free brand at the new 1,400sq m walkthrough duty free shop at Budapest Ferihegy Airport’s SkyCourt in March.
The now familiar blue, red and silver colours will be posted above the store, which will be positioned immediately after the central security checks in Terminal 1.
“Customers will be greeted by an exciting world of adventure and comprehensive service, luxury shopping and entertainment,” pledged Gebr Heinemann.
The German travel retailer is to invest €3.5 million in the facility, creating 45 additional jobs. The company will then employ 160 people at Ferihegy.
For the first full year of operation the company anticipates turnover of about €50 million.
Co-owner Gunnar Heinemann said: “We would like to gain the loyalty of our customers through our family name. Customers should be aware that they are choosing Heinemann.
“We give duty free a face and add personality to the business. We are the only family-owned business in the globally operated duty free market. Our brand is not based on an artificial name. More than 130 years of trustworthy and consistent performance have made our company grow and we want to communicate this success to our customers.”
Budapest Airport CEO Jost Lammers said: “We have been working together very successfully with Gebr Heinemann since 1998. We are proud to be renewing and continuing this working relationship for the future.”
A world of adventure
Heinemann Duty Free said it will be offering an “exciting world of adventure in which there will always be something new to discover, surprising customers beyond their expectations”.
Regularly changing productions will be created on high-profile promotional stages called “˜Heinemann’s Choice’, targeting holidaymakers and frequent flyers.
Regional highlights, specialties and delicacies will be presented in a promotion area called “˜Regionals’, furnished by Budapest design agency Geon. “With Hungarian red wines, Tokaji or goose liver, every traveller will have the last-minute chance to pick up a piece of Budapest before they fly,” the company promised.
Regional products are very popular with shoppers at Ferihegy – currently, every fourth item sold in the Travel Value & Duty Free shops operated by Heinemann in Budapest is a Hungarian product, the company said.
Full service for air travellers
Full-service facilities will be available to customers even before they enter the airport. Thanks to pre-ordering, passengers will be able to place their orders by phone or online. Purchases can then be picked up at the service counter in the shop.
Price parity
Whether they are travelling on flights within Europe or heading further afield, every passenger will pay the same retail price – with the sole exception of duty paid tobacco items for intra-EU flights.
Besides its main store, Gebr Heinemann will also open new concept shops from Hugo Boss and Polo Ralph Lauren, and also feature fashion and accessories from Burberry, Montblanc and Longchamp in a multi-brand location.
Additional Heinemann Duty Free shops are located in the non-Schengen area of T2B (120sq m) and in T1 (260sq m).
