Heinemann to open world’s biggest airport duty free store in Sydney

AUSTRALIA. Heinemann Duty Free will open what’s claimed to be the world’s largest stand-alone airport store by the time it is completed in February 2016 at Sydney Airport.

The 5,751sq m shop represents the culmination of a carefully phased opening programme by the German travel retailer, which opened its first permanent store under the new concession in July (in Arrivals Pier C).

As revealed by The Moodie Report, the retailer also recently opened the second new Arrivals duty free store in the International Terminal (T1) as part of a major commercial improvement programme. The investment in space will “deliver a world-class airport experience for passengers,” Sydney Airport pledged.

Sydney Airport General Manager, Retail Glyn Williams said recently: “On completion, the Heinemann duty free offering at Sydney Airport will deliver first-to-airport brands and unique in-store concepts providing an exceptional passenger experience”

The revised stores are characterised by larger orientation zones with wider, more direct pathways and improved wayfinding for passengers.
