CYPRUS. A €20 million transformation project to redesign the commercial areas of Larnaca International Airport has been unveiled by operator Hermes Airports, in collaboration with partners Cyprus Airports Duty Free and Cyprus Airports F&B (led by Aer Rianta International). It features 22 upgraded retail and food & beverage concepts.
The ambitious project – which was carried out over 20 months and covers a 6,371sq m space – brings a modern look to the extensive commercial offer at Larnaca with a strong accent on Cypriot culture and Sense of Place.

One of the main aims of the project was to improve passenger flow and the overall travel experience through the commercial centrepiece of the airport, with an eye to a future increase in passenger numbers.
Hermes – which also operates Pafos Airport – said that the arrival of new brands in the retail and food & beverage area will help satisfy the demands of a wide range of passenger types.

At the entrance to the commercial areas, new artwork by Cypriot artist Maria Loizidou named Volant Migrants gives a taste of what the passengers will see within the upgraded retail and F&B offer.
Hermes Airports Senior Manager Commercial and Business Development Elias Liolios said: “We are pleased to present one of the largest projects materialised at Larnaca Airport. We are confident that the new, redesigned retail and food & beverage areas will offer a renewed and unique experience to the travelling public, as we have included elements from the tradition of Cyprus. We were inspired by the yards in our homes, the pottery from Lapithos and the basket weaving art from the villages of our country among others.”

He added: “We would like to express our gratitude to our partners at Cyprus Airports F&B and Cyprus Airports Duty Free for the excellent collaboration we have had throughout this project.”
Cyprus Airports F&B General Manager Odysseas Georgiou said: “In the new food & beverage areas we have made use of successful concepts while we have included new brands in our product offering.
“We also have live food preparation from cuisines across the world, which cover all the dietary requirements and preferences of the passengers, while we have created completely new concepts which offer an authentic taste from the Cyprus cuisine.”
Cyprus Airports Duty Free Business Development & Innovation Manager Sergios Sergiou said: “The retail areas offer an ease of movement for all passengers, who can now find new brands as well as our very own collection of local Cyprus spirits which we make at local producers with the label of Cyprus Airports.”
