High turnout for Cannes TFWA World Exhibition; pre-registrations up on last year – 31/10/05

FRANCE. Pre-registration numbers from last night showed 5,099 visitors from 2,104 companies had pre-registered for this year’s event.

TFWA noted that there was a high turnout from Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia Pacific regions.

It is a sell-out exhibition with 452 exhibitors filling the 18,263sq m of space. The strongest presence is the cosmetic and fragrance sector representing 29% of total exhibitors, followed by the spirits and wine sector at 21%, fashion 15%, and confectionery and fine food 12%.

There is a mix of around 60 new exhibitors as well as returning high-profile brands such as Lacoste, Lulu Guinness, Ferre, and Armani accessories, Holland & Holland, Philip Morris, Altadis, Swatch, Tumi and Lego.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, TFWA CEO Andrew Ford said he believed the opening Conference, where the keynote speaker was José Maria Aznar, to be a huge success with a “packed house”.

Innovations at the show this year included the presence of top tennis ace Guy Forget at the tennis tournament, plus a new venue for the Opening Cocktail at the Hotel Martinez. Turnout at the other sports events – including petanque and running – was also running high.
