HMSHost expands Norton Sound Seafood House at Anchorage Airport

USA. HMSHost has unveiled the newly expanded Norton Sound Seafood House at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

With primary seating post-security, the restaurant has always served the pre-security area through a connected “˜to-go’ option. The revamp has seen HMSHost expanding the pre-security area with a new dining room and bar, which offers the same menu and full-service dining found in the post-security area.

The new Concourse C dining area, seating approximately 40 guests, was opened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives of HMSHost, Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC), Alaska Native Heritage Center and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

The restaurant opening was part of the airport’s Alaskan Cultural Experience which included the unveiling of new paintings by native groups of Alaska and a “˜wall of culture’ near the baggage claim area. Event guests also enjoyed demonstrations by the Alaska Native Heritage Center and the Alaska State Council on the Arts, including native dance and crafts.

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport Manager John Parrott said: “Anchorage Airport is often the beginning leg of the journey for many Alaskan travellers, and the final destination for those visiting our great state, which is why we are so pleased about the expansion and updates HMSHost has made at Norton Sound Seafood House. Our partners and contributors have done a magnificent job of enhancing the sense of place regarding Alaskan culture in our airport.”

Norton Sound Seafood House, which specialises in fresh seasonal fish, is said to be well-known for its NSEDC-sourced, locally-caught seafood. “The expanded restaurant will place an even stronger emphasis on featuring seasonally-available fish on the menu, with menu updates made multiple times throughout the year,” HMSHost said.

NSEDC Communications Director Laureli Kinneen commented: “We are excited to provide travellers with an Alaskan dining experience with seafood straight from the waters of the Norton Sound. Continually modifying the menu with seasonally-caught salmon, halibut and crab will ensure travellers continue to have access to sustainably caught seafood from some of the most unique fisheries in the world.”

HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Stephen Douglas added: “In Alaska, fisheries and seafood are historic and important parts of local culture, and it is very exciting that at Norton Sound Seafood House we are able to deliver that iconic culture to travellers in the form of great dishes. Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation has been a great partner in ensuring the best seafood and cultural experience is available to travellers at Anchorage International Airport.”
