HMSHost opens Miller Brewhouse at General Mitchell Airport

USA. HMSHost, in partnership with MillerCoors, has opened a new Miller Brewhouse at General Mitchell International Airport in Wisconsin.

The refurbished restaurant is located pre-security in the airport’s main terminal between the entrances of Concourses D and E. Designed to reflect the Milwaukee MillerCoors brewing heritage – Milwaukee was the hometown of the Miller Brewing Company – the Brewhouse features terrace seating.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele said: “The new Miller Brewhouse is a great option for Mitchell Airport travellers to enjoy locally-inspired food and beverages. This stunning renovation, which comes at no cost to local property tax payers, will leave a lasting impact on travellers for many years to come.”

MillerCoors Wisconsin General Manager of Sales Jim Wright said: “We are proud of our Milwaukee roots dating back to 1855 and the role we continue to play in Milwaukee’s brewing heritage. We appreciate the opportunity to work with HMSHost and General Mitchell International on this great addition to the airport and are thrilled to give travellers a taste of Milwaukee and MillerCoors as they travel to, from or through General Mitchell.”

The Miller Brewhouse menu is the first full menu to be developed by HMSHost’s recently reorganised culinary team, led by HMSHost Corporate Chef and Vice President of Culinary Jeff Steelman.

HMSHost said it is reflective of the culinary-driven direction that the company has taken over recent years as it continues to evolve trends in airport dining. All cheeses, sausage, breads and meats are either local or Wisconsin based; all sauces, dips and dressings are created from scratch.

The carvery section features sandwiches made with a selection of five daily roasted meats such as prime beef, roasted turkey and griddled meatloaf. Other signature menu items include appetisers such as the Hennings local cheese plate and fried cheese curds and main dishes of lake perch fish fry, the Wisconsin butter bacon cheeseburger and the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese sandwich.

Listed beers on tap include Miller Lite, Leinenkugel’s Red Lager, and Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager.

HMSHost Senior Director of Business Development Bryan Loden said: “Milwaukee is a crucial part of American brewing history. It is where Miller opened its first brewery, and we could not be more excited about partnering with MillerCoors on opening a Miller restaurant in Mitchell Airport.

“With Miller Brewhouse, travellers will not only find delicious, healthy, locally-inspired and sourced food and drinks, but a comfortable dining space in which to relax,” he concluded.
