USA. HMSHost has opened three new restaurants at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport in Broward County, Florida.
Two of the new openings are based on local favourites – Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar and Flash Fire Pizza – while the third is international chain Shake Shack.

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar combines authentic Mexican flavours with a lively atmosphere; the original location is said to attract celebrity regulars. The concept was founded by Rocco Mangel.
The food menu includes dishes such as Enchiladas Rojas baked with corn tortillas and Chihuahua cheese and served with refrijoles and yellow rice; breakfast offerings like huevos rancheros; and authentic Mexican churros for dessert. Some dishes are served sizzling in a traditional lava rock molcajete, HMSHost said.
Flash Fire Pizza aims to serve “the freshest, fastest and friendliest food anywhere” and is based on an original pizza restaurant at Boca Raton. Flash Fire specialises in both traditional favourites like Margherita as well as trendier items like sushi pizza, according to HMSHost.
There is also an element of personalisation with passengers able to customise their pizzas by adding ingredients as the pizza moves down the serving line.
Shake Shack is known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers and flat-top Vienna beef dogs. The restaurant also offers 100% all-natural cage-free chicken, spun-fresh frozen custard, crinkle cut fries and craft beer among other items.
“These restaurants all offer a distinct experience,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Michael Price. “Delivering the choices travellers want while representing local flavours, Florida-based restaurant companies, and globally-loved brands is something we thank the airport for the opportunity to do for Fort Lauderdale travellers.”
Flash Fire and Shake Shack are located adjacent to each other in Terminal 2 while Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila is located in Terminal 1 on Concourse C. HMSHost already operates several restaurants at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International.
