USA. Three HMSHost restaurants have landed in GQ Magazine’s list of the “˜10 Best Airport Restaurants in America’, with the number one ranked location a previous winner in The Foodie Report’s Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards.
Celebrity chef Rick Bayless’s Tortas Frontera at Chicago O’Hare International Airport ranked first in the list, which has been published in the November issue of the magazine. It was named the Best Fast Food/Quick Service Restaurantat the 2012 FAB Awards.
Coming in second place was Michael Voltaggio’s ink.sack, which HMSHost has brought to the new Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport.
In fourth place was Gallagher’s, an old-school steak house serving travellers at Newark Liberty International Airport. It is also operated by HMSHost.

“Having three of our restaurants named to this list is very exciting and everyone at HMSHost couldn’t be happier about this achievement,” said HMSHost Executive Vice President of Business Development Steve Johnson.
“Tortas Frontera, ink.sack and Gallagher’s are all amazing restaurants and we’re proud to see that travellers agree.”
Opened in 2011 Tortas Frontera has a “˜farm-to-terminal’ menu that includes the braised short-rib tortas a la plancha and other fresh tortas selections. It also serves a variety of salads featuring fresh vegetables and has a fresh guacamole bar.
In a reversal of recent trends, its popularity has led Rick Bayless and his team to take the concept to the street side.
