DENMARK. Respected ex-Lancaster, Guerlain and Seagram senior executive Hans-Kristian Højsgaard is joining Georg Jensen, the Scandinavian luxury jewellery and precious gifts company, as managing director.
Højsgaard, who for the past year has been a member of the advisory board of Georg Jensen parent company Royal Scandinavia Group, will resign from this post to take over his new role. The company said that the appointment was part of “a further strategic upgrading of Georg Jensen”.
Højsgaard told The Moodie Report: “Via wonderful jewellery, watches and art de table, I look forward to re-enter the luxury goods industry after my sabbatical following my departure from Lancaster Group.”
Højsgaard replaces current managing director Michael Ring, who has been with Georg Jensen since 1999, and is resigning.
The company said: “Michael Ring has been a greatly respected prime mover in the reorganization of Georg Jensen, achieving positive results.”
For the last 18 years, Højsgaard has worked for the international luxury brands Seagram and LVMH (Italy and Hong Kong) before becoming president of the Lancaster Group worldwide. His appointment is good news for the company’s aspirations in travel retail, a sector with which he has always had a great affinity.
