Hong Kong Airport hits post-pandemic milestone with 5.28 million passengers in January

HONG KONG, CHINA. Passenger traffic at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) grew +28% year-on-year in January, reaching its highest level since the pandemic.

Latest figures released by the Airport Hong Kong Authority reveal that traffic volumes last month reached 5.28 million, with average daily passenger traffic exceeding 170,000.

Aircraft movements also climbed to a post-pandemic high of 33,660, reflecting a +17% increase.

The busiest day at the airport was recorded on 25 January, serving more than 193,000 passengers, a full return to pre-pandemic peak levels.

Passenger traffic saw double-digit growth across all segments, including Hong Kong residents, visitors and transfer/transit travellers. The highest increases were recorded on routes to and from Southeast Asia, Mainland China and Japan.

On a rolling 12-month basis, passenger numbers climbed +30.5% year-on-year to 54.2 million, while flight movements were up +27.6% to 368,195 over the same period. ✈
