Stoli Vodka has launched a limited-edition Stolichnaya Harvey Milk, designed to celebrate the life and legacy of California’s first openly gay elected official.
Stoli is a long-time supporter of the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning or queer) community in the UK, Europe and the US.
Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1978. Milk served almost eleven months in office, during which he sponsored a bill banning discrimination in public accommodations, housing, and employment on the basis of sexual orientation. The bill was passed and signed into law by Mayor George Moscone. Tragically, on 27 November 1978, both Milk and Moscone were assassinated by another city supervisor. |
The new edition is already available in the US and will be available in selected UK outlets from 1 August. The 70cl bottle has a RRP of £20 (US$25). The numbered bottles feature a label inspired by a mural by Paraguayan artist Oz Montania. Its design includes Milk’s inspiring quote, “hope will never be silent”.
Stoli Harvey Milk is a part of the Stoli Serves Pride brand platform which is dedicated to the LGBTQ equality movement.
Stoli’s latest edition also supports the Harvey Milk Foundation, which aims to inspire individuals, communities and organisations to continue Milk’s vision of a better, more inclusive world.
Harvey Milk Foundation was founded in 2009 by Harvey’s nephew, Stuart Milk, and Anne Kronenberg, Harvey’s campaign manager. It supports struggling and emerging LGBT communities in over 30 countries. The foundation collaborates with several UK ventures including UK LGBT history month and Schools OUT UK. Its partnership with Stoli has featured a commemorative Spirit of Stonewall bottle. |
