USA. Three stores have been officially opened at Chicago Midway International Airport this week. They include two Hudson travel convenience stores and a chocolate and candy shop from Chicago brand Fannie May.
The Hudson locations are in the Baggage Claim and Concourse C areas, adding to the retailer’s already strong presence at the airport. The stores offer snacks and beverages; travel necessities; local products from brands including Beelove, Chicago Mahogany, Brown Sugar Bakery and Garrett Popcorn; electronics; books and magazines; and more.

Fannie May, founded in Chicago by H. Teller Archibald in 1920, has grown from a single store on Chicago’s LaSalle Street to a multi-store retail chain with outlets across the US States of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio and Wisconsin. The brand is best known for its 50-plus varieties of gourmet chocolates and also produces a wide range of other confections.
Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee said: “I’m proud to welcome Fannie May and these new Hudson shops to our vibrant concessions programme at Midway. By bringing in concessions offerings from diverse, local ownership groups, we are investing in Chicago’s communities while working to create an enhanced travel experience for all passengers.”
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson commented: “I join Commissioner Rhee and CDA in welcoming Fannie May and two new Hudson shops to Midway’s growing concessions programme. These openings represent our commitment to equitably growing opportunities to do business with our airports and ensure that Midway and O’Hare reflect the spirit of our great city.”

Since 2017, Midway Partnership’s concessions programme has now invested more than US$75 million and introduced more than 70 new dining and retail brands to the airport. Through this, the total concessions area has increased by approximately 30,000sq ft.
Midway Partnership CEO Sammy Patel said: “The transformation at Chicago Midway continues to evolve and deliver offerings for every kind of guest at the airport, making each experience unique. The mix of amenities ensures everyone has what they need.
“Our focus remains on creating a seamless, stress-free travel experience while ensuring passengers feel connected to Chicago’s rich culture and flavours. Whether travellers need last-minute travel items or want to bring home a taste of Chicago, the new additions continue to provide a world-class concessions experience.” ✈
