USA. Travel retailer Paradies Lagardère has extended a programme which aims to fight hunger to a third Canadian airport: Saskatoon International.
The initiative, which commenced on 21 October, encourages travellers and airline/airport employees to buy and donate convenience foods, healthy snacks, beverages and other items. These are then passed to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre, which distributes the donations in Saskatoon, the largest city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre is committed to ensuring a food-secure community where all people have access to safe, affordable and nutritious food.

Paradies Lagardère is already operating a similar programme at Edmonton International Airport (partnering with Leduc & District Food Bank) and Calgary International Airport (partner: the Airdrie Food Bank). More than 4,000 items have so far been donated to the needy in those two locations.
Paradies Lagardère President and CEO Gregg Paradies welcomed the launch of the partnership at Saskatoon International. He said: “We’ve received positive feedback regarding our initiatives to fight hunger at the Edmonton and Calgary airports from both our partners and travellers. We’re always looking for new opportunities to make a positive and impactful difference in the lives of our employees, business partners and customers.”
Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre Executive Director Laurie O’Connor said: “This new initiative with Paradies Lagardère will bring much needed personal care items to the community. We hope this gift inspires those who are travelling to think about donating before they head off on their trip. It is wonderful to see this kind of innovation in ways to support the community – thank you so much.”
