INDIA. Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Aero Plaza will soon launch the country’s first airport drive-in theatre and an aqua golf facility.
According to local news outlet Telangana Today, the large screen will be installed in the forecourt of the Passenger Terminal Building where the screening area can accommodate several cars at once.
Aside from the drive-in theatre, the airport will also open an aqua golf driving range – featuring a lake instead of grass. The purpose of this design is to hit balls into targets located on the lake.
The two-storey Aero Plaza was unveiled in 2022 and houses India’s first airport brewery, and the country’s second first free-roaming VR gaming experience, as well as local and international F&B outlets, Go Karting, a range of travel retail outlets and supermarkets.
The airport is undergoing expansion to almost treble its total area, with capacity rising to 34 million passengers annually.
The expansion project also includes a Ground Service Equipment tunnel, which the company said is the first of its kind for any airport in the country. ✈
