IDP to operate WHSmith stores at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport

ASIA PACIFIC. IDP is set to operate eleven WHSmith outlets at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport after being awarded two tenders. WHSmith will be the airport’s exclusive news, books and convenience retailer.

The newly developed International terminal is already home to three WHSmith outlets and a further five are scheduled to open shortly including a confectionery, tobacco and news store. In addition, the Domestic terminal will soon house two WHSmith stores as well as a dedicated bookstore, with an area devoted specifically to young travellers.

IDP is working under a franchise agreement with WHSmith which is now present in 30 airports within the UK, and 24 airports internationally. The retailer has over 1,300 stores around the world and more than 35 in the Asia-Pacific region. IDP has recently set up a regional office in Bali to ensure the smooth running of the stores.

IDP President Director Budi Wong said: “IDP is pleased to be opening eleven stores in Bali International in partnership with WHSmith. It is an important milestone in our development of WHSmith stores in Indonesia.”

WHSmith International Director Louis de Bourgoing added: “We are delighted to be opening eleven stores in Bali International Airport, which is our 20th international territory, and very much look forward to working with IDP to grow our presence in other Indonesian airports.”
