Our daily feature celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns from the global aviation and travel retail sphere.
We were spoiled for choice in today’s selection, drawing as we did on the extraordinarily impactful rebranding of KrisShop and launch of the new KrisShop.com website in Singapore over the past couple of days.
There are some gorgeous images of the related pop-up exhibition, some which we have included below, but we’ve opted for a more prosaic one. That’s because this is a picture that truly tells a story.
You can’t read it on this photo but the text below ‘Check Out’ says: “Pre-order up to 60 minutes before your flight to receive your items inflight.”
That’s right. Courtesy of KrisShop (a joint venture between Singapore Airlines, SATS and 3Sixty), customers can now order merchandise up to 60 minutes before flight departure out of Singapore with delivery to their seats. As CEO Chris Pok noted yesterday at the launch, “This enables KrisShop to reach out from the time a ticket is booked until they board a plane.”
That is a huge improvement on the traditional 24-hour constraint on most airline pre-order programmes. KrisShop knows that if it is to create a “marketplace in the skies”, it must offer not only an enhanced range of products but also the same kind of fulfilment efficiency that the online ecommerce giants do. It is certainly off to a good start.
