Lianne Dalziel, Mayor of Christchurch, was an inspiration in the wake of the recent Christchurch terrorist atrocities, her humanity (like that of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern) a gleaming contrast to the darkness that had descended but which cannot and will not prevail in Christchurch.
Lianne (pictured above) is a (young) old friend and colleague from my long-ago years in my New Zealand hometown. It was very nice, therefore, to catch up with her and husband Rob Davidson in London yesterday (12 July) to present a cheque for NZ$20,000 as my company’s contribution to The Christchurch Foundation – this sum earmarked through a dedicated fund called Our People, Our City, to assist the education of children affected by the attacks. Light will always prevail over dark in this beautiful place.
