Images of the Day: ‘A gateway to the world’ – Bengaluru Airport celebrates landmark anniversary

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

INDIA. Today’s compelling images are courtesy of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which on Saturday (24 May) celebrated the 17th anniversary of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru.

From a start-up, single terminal operation in 2008, the Bengaluru gateway has grown to become India’s third-busiest airport, one synonymous with sense and taste of place, cultural integrity, innovation, sustainability and world-class service.

“Seventeen years on, we’ve grown into more than just an airport. We’ve become a trusted gateway – linking people, goods, and ideas across the globe. With every flight, every shipment, and every interaction, we’ve worked to enhance the travel experience while contributing to the region’s economic and social growth,” BIAL says.

No-one who has visited this great airport would question such a claim.
