INTERNATIONAL. Today’s images come – appropriately on St Patrick’s Day – from Ireland’s state-owned travel retailer ARI. The company has been hosting members of Ireland’s political leadership across its network to honour the Irish national day (17 March).

Visiting the locations this week were Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) Micheál Martin TD at Montreal Duty Free; Simon Coveney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment at Delhi Duty Free and Seán O’Fearghaíl, Ceann Comhairle (Chair of the Dáil/Parliament), who was welcomed by ARI joint venture Portugal Duty Free at Lisbon Airport.

ARI CEO Ray Hernan said: “It was our great privilege to extend a warm Céad Míle Fáilte (which means 100,000 welcomes in Irish) to Ireland’s leading dignitaries during this hallmark week for the Irish diaspora and enterprises worldwide.

“Together with our colleagues and our partners, we are delighted to see ARI continue to prosper and expand its global footprint, and we wish a very joyous St Patrick’s Day to all.”

ARI highlighted its pioneering status in the industry, with the first duty-free shop in the world opening at Shannon Airport in 1947.

ARI now has a presence in 13 countries and 27 cities worldwide.

The company said: “As the legacy of the shamrock spreads worldwide, ARI stands as a proud symbol of Irish innovation and the celebratory spirit of St Patrick’s Day.” ✈
