HONG KONG, CHINA. Today’s selection transports us to the heart of Hong Kong’s cultural past with a striking recreation of Kowloon Walled City at Hong Kong International Airport.

The impressively detailed set invites passengers to step back in time to the 1980s

Created in partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency and the production companies behind Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In (2024), the ‘Live out the Cinematic Charm of Hong Kong’ exhibition vividly captures daily life within the historic landmark.

The exhibition is open in Terminal 1, Arrivals Hall A until 20 November. It features six zones including a barber shop, tea stall and plastic flower workshop, allowing travellers to experience Kowloon Walled City’s gritty charm in the 1980s.

The double-storey installation, built to real-life proportions, also introduces visitors to the cinematic world of Twilight of the Warriors. Set in Kowloon Walled City, the film is a neo-noir martial arts crime thriller directed by Soi Cheang.

In a recent Instagram post, Hong Kong International Airport shared tips for travellers seeking the perfect shot at the exhibit: lower the exposure, switch to wide-angle and add a grainy texture in post-editing to capture the city’s nostalgic essence. ✈️
