Images of the Day: Lotte Duty Free creates another Korean wave with Stray Kids promotion

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Strange Nature Gin from New Zealand, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

SOUTH KOREA. Today’s selection comes from Lotte Duty Free as the travel retailer celebrates its new blockbuster celebrity campaign with the hugely popular Korean boy band Stray Kids.

Lotte Duty Free is asking readers to follow it on Instagram and indicate which country they would like most to visit with the eight-member band.

Prizes include an Espoir Nowear Lipstick Balming Glow from Korean professional make-up brand Espoir.

Lotte Duty Free was the founder of the hallyu (Korean wave) concept in travel retail, building on a dynamic that had emerged locally in the 1990s through the surging international popularity of Korean TV and cinema dramas

“We would like to think Lotte Duty Free was the one who in fact started this whole Korean Wave,” Lotte Duty Free CEO Kim Ju Nam told The Moodie Davitt Report in an interview earlier this year. “By appointing famous Korean Hallyu celebrities, especially K-pop idols, as our ambassadors and models for the first time, we have contributed to the spread of K-culture globally.”

By the evidence below, the travel retailer is proudly maintaining that tradition.  ✈
