INDIA. Today’s photos portray the exciting development of one of the world’s most exciting transport infrastructure projects, Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel Shri. Jyotiraditya Scindia toured the project yesterday (13 January), conducting a progress review meeting to assess operational readiness, followed by a detailed site visit.
The project, set to open by year-end, will change the Mumbai Metropolitan region’s aviation landscape. In the first year of its opening, Navi Mumbai International will augment capacity by 20 million passengers per annum, rising to 90 million post completion of the final phase.

He was also apprised about the status of various multi-modal connectivity projects and how the airport will be connected through rail, road, and metro. Along with the ministry officials, the review meeting was attended by senior officials of CIDCO, Adani Airport Holdings Limited and the government of Maharashtra.
“This is the country’s project not just Mumbai’s or Maharashtra’s,” the Minister said. “I am happy that the physical and financial progress is on time.
“It is going to help connecting both Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. I would also like to inform people that the project will be connected through multimodal connectivity through rail, road, metro and ultimately waterways.”

The airport is being built in five phases with all four terminals interconnected along with seamless airside and landside integrated operations for hub operations.
Duty free operations will be run by Mumbai Travel Retail Private Limited, the joint venture between Adani Airport Holdings Limited and Flemingo Travel Retail Private Limited. Adanai Airport Holdings internalises commercial businesses such as duty free, food & beverage and lounges via joint ventures to capture the full value chain. ✈
