Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Strange Nature Gin from New Zealand, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

HONG KONG, CHINA. How good it is to see House of Hennessy at Duty Zero by cdf  restored to full glory at Hong Kong International Airport, writes Martin Moodie, surely one of the airport world’s finest boutiques.

A world-first, House of Hennessy was inaugurated amid great fanfare on 27 September 2018, but was forced to close through most of the pandemic. It has only been partially open since business began to recover at the airport.

Now, as today’s images reveal, it’s back and the airport shopping offer is much the better for it.

Designed by French agency Malherbe, House of Hennessy takes inspiration from Château de Bagnolet, a historic French castle acquired by Auguste and Irene Hennessy in 1841. Built in the style of a Louisiana colonial house, the castle has been a symbol of French art de vivre and Hennessy heritage for more than a century,.

As the images show, House of Hennessy is currently embracing the impending Year of the Dragon with stunning digital media showcasing the exquisite work of Chinese artist Yang Yongliang, with whom the Cognac house has collaborated to create a Chinese New Year collection.

Combine all this with superb internal views over the airfield and you have an experience worth getting to the airport early for. Retail as an integral, educational and fun part of the travel journey. ✈
