In Memoriam: fashion designer Jesus del Pozo passes away

Jesus del Pozo: “the master of Spanish fashion”

SPAIN. It is with regret that we report the death of fashion designer Jesus del Pozo, who passed away on Saturday in Madrid, following a period of illness.

“The master of Spanish fashion and the driving force behind the catwalks of Madrid Fashion Week leaves behind a great legacy and immense vacuum for all of us with whom he worked and shared friendships,” declared Pedro Trolez, Managing Director of Perfumes & Diseño, which handles the brand’s fragrance business.

Del Pozo was born and raised in Madrid, where he opened his first clothing store for men, in 1974. His first men’s collection was presented in Paris in 1976, and was followed in 1980 by his first women’s ready-to-wear line.

At the beginning of the nineties del Pozo entered the fragrance arena with Duende. This was followed in 1994 by his first masculine scent, Quasar; then by Esencia de Duende in 1996, Halloween in 1997, Quasar Adventure in 1999, On Él and On Ella in 2001, J del Pozo in Black in 2005, J del Pozo in White in 2007, Halloween Kiss in 2008, Halloween Kiss Sexy in 2009 and Ambar in 2010.

Aside from his passion for fashion and fragrance, del Pozo was an ardent ballet and opera aficionado.

“His perfumes will remain with us in the world, spreading the joys of a great fashion designer and great creator of fragrances,” added Trolez. “We pray for his eternal rest.”
