With immense sadness, we report the passing of Marc Gentzbourger, one of travel retail’s brightest and best talents and an outstanding young man on every level.
Marc passed away in recent days at the age of just 47 after battling cancer for several months in Hong Kong. He was President of his own company, MG Cellars, which he founded in 1997 and which became synonymous with the success of fine wines and Armagnacs, led by Chabot which he championed so magnificently.
Marc was married to Kathleen, with a son Luca and two daughters, Thea And Mia
He is the son of great travel retail veteran John Gentzbourger (a man who helped drive the astounding success of Camus Cognac for DFS over many years) and brother of DFS Group Senior Vice President, Global Merchandising – Beauty Ariel Gentzbourger.
Above all, he was a lovely, ebullient, wonderful human being, straight and fair in business, immensely generous of spirit. Along with everyone in travel retail who knew Marc, we send our deepest condolences to his parents John and Irene, to Ariel, and to Kathleen, Luca, Thea and Mia.
NOTE: Readers can add their comments and tributes via the DISQUS platform at the foot of this page. These will be passed on to Marc’s family.
