Industry anti-illicit trade declaration gathers further retailer support

INTERNATIONAL. Ever Rich Duty Free, International Shoppes, Attenza Duty Free and Duty Free Partners have become the latest travel retailers to support the Duty Free World Council (DFWC) and Tax Free World Association (TFWA) anti-illicit trade declaration.

By signing the declaration – which was launched in July 2023 – signatories commit to a zero-tolerance approach to illicit trade within their own organisation.

DFWC President Sarah Branquinho commented: “The Council and TFWA jointly launched the anti-illicit trade declaration 12 months ago. Since then, many of the leading industry retailers have pledged their support for the declaration and to uphold its principles.

“We are delighted to see that support continues to grow and welcome Ever Rich Duty Free, International Shoppes, Attenza and Duty Free Partners to the list of supporting retailers. This is a long-term industry initiative, and we welcome the support of other travel retail operators and suppliers who wish to be a part of the declaration, and we continue to encourage them to join us.”

Campaigners note that the duty-free industry has among the most transparent, trusted and secure supply chains in the world, and the anti-illicit trade declaration “sends a clear message to our millions of customers that they can shop in duty- and tax-free stores confident that the products they are purchasing are authentic and genuine”.

Signatories to the declaration, they added, are making a firm public commitment to never permit any form of illicit trade, counterfeiting or intellectual property theft, and to hold their commercial partners to that same standard. ✈️
