POLAND. Inflight Service Europe has revealed details of its new retail offer at Warsaw Modlin Mazovia Airport. As revealed last week by The Moodie Report, Inflight Service Poland Sp. Z.o.o. was awarded the contract for the tax free/travel retail stores at the location.
The exclusive contract covers four shops airside, and one shop landside. The assortment will include liquor, tobacco, confectionery, fragrances, cosmetics and skincare. Inflight Service will also retail other products such as non-alcoholic beverages, accessories, newspapers, magazines and souvenir items. The contract is for six years and the shops will be opened as soon as possible as agreed and planned with the airport authorities.
Warsaw Modlin Mazovia Airport, located some 35km north of Warsaw, was formerly used mainly as a military airfield. Due to the increased need for more airport capacity in the Warsaw area, the airport opened on 15 July 2012 for commercial air traffic.
The airport is to serve international short and medium range routes as well as domestic routes to and from other regional airports and is to be a base for low cost airlines serving Warsaw and central parts of Poland. Wizzair and Ryanair have already started flying from the airport. The estimated passenger figure for 2013 is 1.8 million and is expected to increase to 2.3 million by 2016.
Inflight Service Europe CEO Björn Ulfberg said: “We are very proud to have been awarded the contract to run the Tax Free shops at Warsaw Modlin Mazovia Airport. As a company we have been remodelling our retail offer and the new contract is great evidence of getting the whole concept right.
“Our local and central teams have worked extremely hard to deliver an appealing offer for the airport authorities and are very excited about realising this opportunity over the years to come. Inflight Service has long and productive relationships with several other business partners in Poland and we are very much looking forward to establishing the same dynamic environment with Warsaw Modlin Mazovia Airport.”
