Integrated Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways announce new inflight retail team – 22/04/08

UK. The new, integrated airline arising out of Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways yesterday announced details of its combined inflight team. This follows the recent merger between the tourism arm of Thomsonfly’s parent group TUI and First Choice Holidays, which led to the yet-to-be-named new airline’s creation.

Janice Hockenhull and Natasha Reynolds are named Inflight Retail Product Executives. Each will be responsible for the delivery of profit performance targets within yet to be designated categories. They will manage the retail product offering through the design, sourcing and selection stages. They will also be responsible for the development of the airline’s inflight retail magazine, promotional campaigns, space planning and the support and development of crew incentives.

Both will report to Inflight Retail Manager Alan Hayes, who noted: “The designated categories that Natasha and Janice will be managing will be determined and communicated over the coming weeks and they will form industry leading supplier relationships to deliver outstanding mutual results”.

Dawn Haylor has been appointed as Inflight Retail Development Executive, responsible for the management and delivery of the cabin crew incentive programmes and sales training. She will also support the cabin crew management team in the development of the Retail Motivators and Product Specialists, as well as managing the weekly, monthly and seasonal communication to the cabin crew.

Haylor will report to Alan Hayes as will Phil Slaney who has been appointed as Inflight Retail Business Information Manager. He will be accountable for designing and producing the management information required by the retail team and will manage the delivery of performance communication and forecasts to the supplier base. Additionally he will ensure that service providers deliver against the Service Level Agreements for the electronic onboard sales systems.

Reporting directly to Slaney is Ozma Saleem, who has been appointed Inflight Retail Analyst. Saleem will provide analytical support for the inflight retail team and will be responsible for delivering management information via full analysis, trends and variance to targets. In addition, Saleem will provide improvements to management reports, prepare forecasts, provide financial analysis and drive business improvements on projects, costs and new initiatives.

Also reporting to Slaney is Inflight Retail Back Office Executive David Cargill, who will support the inflight team in delivering against sales, profit and space planning performance targets. Cargill will manage the delivery of the back office processes, including bar design and flight allocation.

As a result of these changes Carrie Bradshaw has taken the decision to leave First Choice Airways after 12 years of service. Bradshaw will work closely with Hayes to ensure the smooth integration of the inflight retail operation and will undertake specific projects on behalf of the inflight operations team before leaving her position on 30 September.
