Israel Airports Authority launches Tel Aviv duty free tender

ISRAEL. Israel Airports Authority has issued tender documents for its core duty free business at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport Terminal 3. The seven-year contract, with a 34-month optional extension period, covers liquor, tobacco, fragrances, cosmetics, confectionery and pharmacy goods.

The authority, which valued the contract at US$362 million in 2011 under incumbent JR Duty Free, has declared that the winner of the tender will be the company “whose bid complies with all conditions of the tender and having the highest financial bid”.

The tender documents set out qualifications for both Israeli and foreign companies to participate in the tender. Non-Israeli companies must have operated a chain of duty free shops since at least 1 January 2009, with sales turnover of at least US$150 million in 2011-2012.

As reported the current contract, which expires in October 2014, covers 3,300sq m of shop space. A series of pre-bid meetings was held in Israel last week.

The deadline for tender submissions is 10am on 6 June, with submissions to be posted in the tenders box located at the Israel Airports Authority’s main office building at Ben Gurion Airport.

The Moodie Report will bring you more details on the tender shortly.
