Following its debut at the TFWA Asia Pacific earlier in May, Armagnac brand Janneau will soon be exhibiting for the first time at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (stand number: Green Village K6).
Already active in travel retail in Europe and Russia, Janneau focuses exclusively on a premium positioning in Armagnac with VSOP, XO Royal and older qualities, including vintages. It claims to be the most awarded Armagnac in the major tasting competitions, with over 80 medals won in the last decade.
Janneau says it is committed to continuous innovation in the Armagnac category, exemplified by its reintroduction of the double distillation method with pot stills to the Armagnac region in 1972, and the launch of the Single Distillery range a few years ago using the same method.
As reported, this was the original method of distilling Armagnac before 1909 when French President Fallières made the continuous still compulsory in Armagnac. Since early 1970s, Janneau has been known for mastering this Cognac-style method in the region, the company said.
Last year, as part of its new Vintage Strategy focusing on vintage Armagnacs, Janneau launched the special edition Dragon Vintages range – three vintages bottled in different years of the dragon. They include a 24yo (bottled in 1988), a 36yo (1976) and a 48yo (1964), said to represent the Earth, Fire and Wood Dragons from the Chinese zodiac respectively.
Within the duty free sector, the company aims to expand the growth of its XO and vintage products. Recent successful listings include London Heathrow Airport (via World Duty Free Group), Seoul Incheon International Airport (Lotte), Dubai International Airport (Dubai Duty Free) and Doha International Airport (Qatar Duty Free).
