CHINA. Well-known travel retail industry executive Jason Cao (曹瑞杰 ) has been appointed Vice President of Global Consumer Boutique (Hainan) Trading Co, operator of Haikou-based travel retailer GDF Plaza.
At GDF Plaza he has taken charge (effective today) of investment promotion, procurement and brand relations. He also aims to strengthen cooperation with suppliers and brands.
Cao will fill the gap left by former GDF Plaza President Lim Guek Boon (Casey Lim) who left to return to his native Singapore last November.
Cao is a much-respected figure in travel retail having spent 12 years with Sunrise Duty Free in senior roles until March 2013. This included a lengthy stint as Merchandising Head – Perfume & Cosmetics Department.
In May 2013 he created his own company Amberich International, which offers a variety of services to the travel retail sector including consulting, headhunting and staff training, retailing design, operation management and brand distribution.
The company also works closely with Duty Free World Council in developing its training academy. ✈
