SAUDI ARABIA. King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah is launching one of the largest food and beverage (F&B) tenders in its history this month.
The main Terminal 1 package spans 3,200sq m with 24 outlets across international and domestic departures. This, said airport company Jeddah Airports, “is a significant step towards further enhancing the customer experience at KAIA and to becoming one of the leading world-class airports in the region and beyond”.
A package of outlets in the North Terminal across more than 300sq m is targeted at a different passenger demographic with an updated format and offer.

To cater to the diverse needs and preferences of its passengers, KAIA is striving to reflect new trends in its F&B offerings, and to provide “top-notch services” to travellers at the second largest terminal (by floor space) in the world.
With one of the highest passenger growth rates in the world, KAIA is the major hub for Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, and the gateway to the key religious sites of Mecca and Medina.
The F&B tender at KAIA is a part of the ambitious Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to transform the country into a global business and tourism hub. The tender is expected to attract prominent players in the F&B industry, both local and international, who will compete to secure prime space within the airport and showcase their culinary expertise.

Among the key goals of the tender is to introduce new food trends that align with the evolving preferences of modern travellers. Jeddah Airports said: “As the global travel landscape continues to change, passengers are increasingly seeking unique and authentic dining experiences that go beyond traditional airport fare. This presents an opportunity for F&B operators to offer innovative and trend-setting concepts that cater to the changing demands.
“The new food trends that are expected to be introduced through this F&B tender at KAIA are set to tantalise the taste buds of travellers and elevate their dining experience at the airport. From fusion cuisines that blend local and international flavours to healthy and sustainable dining options, the F&B outlets at KAIA will offer a wide variety of choices catering to different dietary requirements and preferences with something to meet the demands of a wide range of customer profiles.”

With customer experience high on the agenda, Jeddah Airports said it is aiming to provide world-class services and facilities at KAIA. The F&B outlets should focus not only on serving “super fresh and delicious meals” but offer “exceptional service, ambience and innovative concepts to enhance the overall dining experience for travellers. Whether it’s a quick grab-and-go meal or a leisurely dining experience, passengers at KAIA can expect a memorable culinary journey”.
The company said that the tender is significant in terms of its size but also for its impact on the airport’s overall offering and should help to elevate KAIA’s status “as a world-class airport and set new benchmarks for F&B offerings in airports globally.” It added: “This tender is a testament to KAIA’s commitment to continuously improving its services and facilities to meet the evolving needs of its passengers, offering an unparalleled culinary experience for travellers passing through its doors.”
The closing date for submissions is 31 July, with final discussions and an offer to the preferred candidate(s) expected by the end of September.
