JFK Millennium Partners launches duty free solicitation process for New York JFK Terminal 6

USA. Vantage Airport Group-led JFK Millennium Partners (JMP) has begun the search for a duty free partner at New York JFK International Airport’s upgraded Terminal 6, which is currently under development. At stake is over 18,000sq ft of space, of which the main location spans over 10,000sq ft as travellers exit the security screening area.

Potential respondents are invited to participate in a competitive solicitation process (CSP) for the commercial development of duty free concession outlets, to be conducted in two stages.

Stage one is open to all parties who wish to submit a proposal for both phases of the duty free programme at JFK Terminal 6. JMP is seeking “full submissions from experienced duty free operators with a strong and exemplary history of creativity, innovation, visually dynamic concepts, and a reputation for best-in-class operations and service delivered through exciting concepts”.

During stage one, respondents will have the opportunity to express their qualifications and submit concepts, designs and financial proposals for the duty free programme planned.

JMP intends to select two or more preferred respondents who will each be asked to participate in stage two – a ‘best and final’ stage.

Preferred respondents will be asked to present and discuss the concepts, designs and financial proposal with the JMP team. “The collaborative dialogue meetings are meant to be a collaborative discussion resulting in JMP and the Preferred Respondents in-depth understanding of each other’s perspectives, vision and the realm of possibilities,” said JMP.

The target opening date for Phase One of the New Terminal is February 2026, when the first four of five duty free concession outlets under this CSP are expected to open. The remaining duty free concession outlet is expected to open in 2028 as part of Phase Two.

Vantage Airport Group Vice President, Commercial Sammy Patel said: “New York City is synonymous with luxury and fashion. The world’s most renowned designer and beauty brands have long found homes in the sumptuous streets of New York City’s best districts, from Madison Avenue to SoHo.

“We are looking for a collaborative partner to work with us to deliver a quintessential impression of the authentic New York experience. As a new terminal with scrupulous attention to the passengers’ on-the-ground experience, Terminal 6 provides the opportunity for an innovative, dynamic, service-focused concessions experience.”

The duty free RFP deadline is 10 January 2024.

JFK Millennium Partners (JMP) is composed of Vantage Airport Group; American Triple I; RXR and JetBlue. Vantage is the lead investor, and also the manager of the development. JMP currently operates JFK Terminal 7 and will run the new US$4.9 billion Terminal 6 which will occupy the site of the former Terminal 6 and Terminal 7 when completed. ✈
