USA. JFKIAT, which operates New York John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4, has begun a tender process for its duty free concession, currently managed by DFS Group.

The move comes as Terminal 4 undergoes a major expansion and redevelopment with a range of commercial offers being reimagined for the future. At stake under the duty free concession is around 33,000sq ft of space, with a target contract start date of Q4 2024.

In Stage One of the Competitive Solicitation Process (CSP), JFKIAT is inviting “the most innovative duty free retailers in the world” to respond to a Request for Qualifications. This is open to all potential candidates. In Stage Two, a select group of preferred respondents will be invited to make formal proposals.

One winner will be selected, and the length of term has yet to be defined, JFKIAT told The Moodie Davitt Report.

The airport company said: “Retailers will be asked to demonstrate that they have the vision, innovation, and capability to deliver Terminal 4 customers an evolutionary duty free experience for the duration of this partnership. JFKIAT is excited to further enhance its commercial offerings and looks forward to offering a best-in-class retail experience for its customers.”

The deadline for Stage One submissions is 14 April (close of business, Eastern US Time). For more information, please contact procurement@jfkiat.com.
