Hicks pioneered an eclectic mix of old and new, such as antiques reupholstered in bright, pop-influenced prints. He was known for a modern graphic style and vibrant, often clashing, palette.
David’s son, Ashley Hicks – also an acclaimed designer – has explored his father’s vibrant archives to reinterpret three classic geo-patterns, each reflecting the scent of the Jo Malone Home Candle it partners.
The three Collectors Edition Home Candles are Lime Basil and Mandarin in David Hicks Riviera, Red Roses in David Hicks Hicksonian and Pomegranate Noir in David Hicks Carnation.
In other news, Jo Malone has added Dry Body Oils to its Lime Basil & Mandarin and English Pear & Freesia collections. They are available in travel retail markets (excluding Asia) from this month.
The oils are said to nourish skin, leaving it satin-soft yet dry to the touch. The formula features olive, kukui and macadamia-seed oils, plus wheat germ extract, for a healthy-looking, luminous glow. Quickly absorbed, the lighter texture of the oil makes it an ideal product to use in the warmer months, according to the brand.
Jo Malone’s Dry Body Oils should be applied to wet skin post-bath or shower, then patted dry with a towel. Once dry, they may be layered with body lotion for maximum moisturising benefits.
