Jo Malone London has created a new, limited-edition fragrance collection called Rock The Ages, composed by Master Perfumer Christine Nagel. It will be available in travel retail worldwide from March.
According to the brand, the line aims to capture the defining eras in the country’s history, from the Tudors to the Georgians to the present day. Each 30ml fragrance features special packaging and exclusive bottle designs.

“The idea was to capture the atmosphere of some of Britain’s most defining eras; periods of British history so unique that each one has its own globally recognised ambience of drama and character,” explained Nagel.
“We wanted to encapsulate these ages in scent, creating a collection that would playfully appeal to the imagination.”
“We are always inspired by British culture,” stated Fragrance Director Celine Roux, citing the tradition of blackberry picking which led to the creation of Blackberry & Bay, and the Cecil Beaton photograph that inspired Peony & Blush Suede. “For this new fragrance, the inspiration was the iconic ages of British history.”
Rock The Ages comprises five fragrances. Tudor Rose & Amber – described as rich and opulent – features the heraldic Tudor rose, still used today as a royal symbol of England. It incorporates notes of rose absolute, clove, ginger and amber.
Lily of the Valley & Ivy aims to evoke the “pastel gentility of Georgian London”, the brand maintains. It combines cassis, green ivy, lily of the valley and narcissus.
Pomegranate Noir pays tribute to the Victorian era. Its signature ingredient is paired with Casablanca lily and pink pepper, atop a base of Guaiac wood.
Geranium & Verbena is described as the olfactory embodiment of elegant Edwardian summers. Key ingredients include verbena, basil, geranium, coumarin and vetiver.
Concluding the quintet is Birch & Black Pepper, which aims to represent Britain today, whose rebellious roots in punk exist side-by-side with an enduring respect for tradition, according to the brand. Described as a scent of contrasts, the juice features black pepper, cardamom, smoky birch, an accord of “magnetic ink” and gurjum.
