Jordi Constans to succeed Yves Carcelle as CEO of Louis Vuitton

INTERNATIONAL. Jordi Constans is set to succeed Yves Carcelle as CEO of Louis Vuitton, LVMH announced in a statement this week. Constans, 47, will familiarise himself with the LVMH Group throughout 2012 and take on the new role at the end of this process.

Carcelle was named CEO of Louis Vuitton in 1990. In the 21 years of his tenure, Louis Vuitton has enjoyed “spectacular and widely acclaimed growth” to achieve its position today as the world’s leading luxury brand, LVMH said.

Carcelle will become President of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, which is currently under construction to a design by celebrated architect Frank Gehry. It will open at the beginning of 2013. He will remain a member of the LVMH Executive Committee and undertake strategic roles alongside Chairman and Chief Executive Bernard Arnault.

Until this appointment, Constans was Managing Director of one of the most important divisions within Danone SA and was also a member of the Danone Executive Committee.

Arnault said: “I am delighted that Jordi Constans is joining the group. Initially, he will have the privilege of working with Yves Carcelle, who has led Louis Vuitton with remarkable success since 1990. I wish him the very best for the future success of this iconic brand within the LVMH Group.”
