Karma Tequila to expand in travel retail following IAADFS debut

Karma Tequila made its debut at last week’s IAADFS Duty Free Show of The Americas, where it highlighted its Silver, Reposado and Añejo tequilas.

Currently available in four stores at Newark Liberty Airport Terminal B under EJE Retail, the brand is aiming to expand into Asian and South American markets – areas it considers key for tequila growth. Karma Tequila has also earmarked Australia, New Zealand and Europe as potential growth areas.

The company’s distillery, founded in 1937, produces its tequila from 100% blue agave grown in Mexico’s Jalisco region, and hand-makes it in small batches through a multiple distillation process.

Karma Silver is the brand’s key product. It is bottled immediately following distillation, with little or no ageing. Karma Reposado is aged in used American Oak Kentucky Bourbon barrels for 364 days. It has a smooth vanilla and caramel finish, according to the brand.

Deeper in colour, Karma Añejo is described as having fruity agave and spice flavours. It is aged for up to 35 months inside American Oak Kentucky Bourbon barrels.
