SWEDEN. Stockholm Arlanda Airport has sent a food truck onto the streets of the city to spread the word about the quality and broad range of food available in restaurants at the hub.
Over the coming weeks, the truck will visit different locations in the city, selling food which features on the menus of various retaurants at the airport. The truck, which has been painted to signal that it comes from the airport, is being run in partnership with an existing operator. All dishes (see menu below) are on sale for SEK65 (US$10).
Airport operator Swedavia said the range of food on offer at the hub had expanded rapidly over the past year, meaning the food truck would now allow more people to explore this variety and eat well.

Taking it to the streets: The food truck will make stops around Stockholm |
Swedavia Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer Michael Persson Gripkows said: “It is an unusual and exciting way to market Stockholm Arlanda. We want to give everyone a chance to eat the good food here, and we hope and believe that many people will be surprised.
“Above all, we hope we can inspire more people to get to the airport well in advance to discover the broad array of food on offer.”
The project goes by the name Arlanda Food Trucks and is being backed by a website, allowing Stockholm citizens to find out where to buy the food, and a strong social media campaign.
Although the project is initially running for only a few weeks, Swedavia said the food truck may make further journeys and be a recurring feature in the city if successful.
“There are almost 50 restaurants, cafés and bars at Stockholm Arlanda, but many travellers do not take the time to discover what is available,” said Arlanda Schiphol Development Company Managing Director Roel Huinink.
“There are many delicious and innovative dishes today that are far from what we are used to at airports. The airport has become an important part of the whole travel experience, and the selection of food, beverages, shopping and experiences should be inspiring and meet our passengers’ needs.”
