GERMANY. The Kiehl’s brand (part of the L’Oréal group) has further consolidated its travel retail presence, with the opening today of a new boutique at Munich Airport.
The 25sq m store has been designed to showcase all the signature elements of the brand, including a “Mr Bones” skeleton (which recalls the medical and scientific origins of the brand); vintage photographs of the shoppers and staff; and antique apothecary jars.
The boutique also features a sampling unit to promote the brand’s “try it before you buy it” motto.
The Kiehl’s store is located within the Pure Brands area at Munich. The opening underscores a successful trading period for the brand – despite the difficult economic climate – with year-to-date growth of +80%.
Note: Kiehl’s was founded as an old-world apothecary in New York’s East Village neighbourhood over 150 years ago. The brand offers skin, hair and body care products that are a blend of the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, herbal and medicinal. Customer service – and service to the community – are key principles.
– The Moodie Report is on location in Munich today – look out for a more detailed report on the Kiehl’s opening tomorrow.
