Kiehl’s underlines commitment to the environment as it celebrates official opening of new Changi T2 store – 14/08/08

SINGAPORE. Nuance-Watson (Singapore), together with Scental L’Oreal Luxury Products Travel Retail Asia Pacific, held an official launch event for the new Kiehl’s store at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 last week.

The new stand-alone store, which opened its doors on 17 June, is located at Perfumes & Cosmetics in Changi Airport Terminal 2, Departures transit.

The launch event was attended by guests-of-honour Nuance-Watson Singapore Managing Director Ken Tse, Scental Division Manager Emmanuel Goulin and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) Assistant Commercial Director Chandra Mahtani.

Also present was Singapore Environment Council (SEC) General Manager Yatin Premchand, who was on hand to grace the Plant-a-tree ceremony. Every year Kiehl’s donates part of its profits to selected local charity organisations; SEC has been chosen as part of the brand’s drive to increase public awareness on environmental issues.

In support of SEC’s Plant-a-tree programme, Goulin presented the first cheque donation by Kiehl’s to SEC following his official opening speech. The guests-of-honour were then presented with a water can each and invited to water a live mini tree.

After the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests were invited to sign on “˜Mr Bones’, an iconic skeleton figure found in Kiehl’s stores worldwide.

“The Kiehl’s opening event at Changi Airport is a great occasion to celebrate the close partnership between Nuance-Watson and Kiehl’s that started two years ago in Hong Kong [the brand made its travel retail debut with Nuance-Watson, in May 2006, at Hong Kong International Airport – Ed], which is continuing now in Singapore and will further expand in the coming years,” said Goulin.

“Changi Airport is only the fifth opening for Kiehl’s in Asia Pacific travel retail after Hong Kong, Taipei and Seoul (two shops). But there are many more to come as Kiehl’s will continue to grow thanks to the quality of our products, our commitment to providing exemplary service, and through word-of-mouth recommendations,” he added.

Nuance-Watson Singapore Category Manager of Perfumes & Cosmetics Jorge Rodriguez said: “The opening of Kiehl’s demonstrates our determination to cater to the needs of the different passengers passing through Changi Airport. Being one of the hippest and popular brands in the market currently, we foresee Kiehl’s to serve many of our discerning customers who use only products of all-natural ingredients.”
