FRANCE. King Power International (Thailand) was named Airport Retailer of the Year at the annual Frontier Awards in Cannes last night.
The Thai retailer won the award for its multi-dimensional retail complex at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
The result was a popular and welcome vindication for King Power, which had faced a series of well-documented challenges to its Suvarnabhumi contracts after the September 2006 military coup.
The Patrón Spirits Company, the socially conscious producer of fast-growing super-premium Patrón tequila, gained the accolade of Supplier of the Year.

DFS Group won Border/Downtown Retailer of the Year for its Hong Kong Gallerias while Cathay Pacific Airways was named Inflight/Marine Retailer of the Year.
Star Product of the Year went to Kraft Foods World Travel Retail’s Toblerone Fruit & Nut multi-pack.

Bacardi Global Brands won Best Partnership Initiative for its roll-out across five different airports of the US$200,000 a bottle Bombay Sapphire Revelation.
ATÜ Duty Free in Turkey gained the award for Best Speciality Concept for its acclaimed Old Bazaar destination merchandise concept.
Best Marketing Campaign by a Supplier went to Kraft Foods World Travel Retail for its Toblerone 100th anniversary campaign.

The Best Marketing Campaign by a retailer went to Nuance-Watson (Hong Kong) for its “˜Lovable Panda’ promotion honouring the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Outstanding Contribution of the Year went to the European Travel Retail Council.
