SOUTH KOREA. Korean Air is projecting full-year sales of US$151 million for 2017, a -10.1% fall in a difficult year for Korean travel retailers.
As reported extensively, Chinese tourism to South Korea has been badly affected by the dispute over the THAAD anti-missile system.
Korean Air has long been the world’s most successful inflight retailer.
This year’s sales have been dominated by cosmetics, which will generate an impressive US$54 million in business, 35.5% of total revenue.
Liquor ranks second, with sales of US$43 million, a 28.7% share.
