GERMANY. Kunert, the German supplier of fashion socks and travel hosiery, wants to expand into Asia Pacific in 2005. The company is currently focused on European duty free markets.

Kunert’s portfolio of brands includes Hudson, Burlington and Kunert; the Burlington brand made its debut at TFWA in 2003. The company is also the licensee of the Mexx and Bruno Banani brands.

Hudson Kunert Export Director Bernhard Cordier said: “Asia Pacific will be on our agenda in 2005. The Burlington and Kunert socks have proved to be very convenient [for travellers]. We have high stock rotation and we offer a range of profitable items for travel retail and duty free.”

He said Kunert offers socks of the finest quality through the main brand’s Platinum Series. Its most famous line, however, is the Burlington Argyle socks which use rural Britain – a popular theme for woollen merchandise – as the selling pitch.

Prices range between €9 (US$13) and €18 (US$24).

Duty free distributors, retailers and airlines can contact Hudson Kunert at Julius-Kunert-Strasse 49, D-87509 Immenstadt, Germany; tel: + 49 8323 12 472; fax: +49 8323 12 540; email: Bernhard.Cordier@Hudson-Kunert.de.
