La Mer – the luxury skincare brand from The Estée Lauder Companies – has continued its mission to help safeguard marine environments through a social media campaign for its Blue Heart Oceans Fund in May and June.
The brand has been encouraging shoppers to get involved in the project by posting online using #LaMerBlueHeart and #LaMerDonation during these two months.
For every public post using the hashtags La Mer has promised to donate US$25, up to a ceiling of US$650,000, to the La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund to support ocean conservation projects around the world.
The fund was established in 2017 by the brand and, to date, it has helped maintain 16 million miles of unique habitats across the globe to ensure future flourishing seas for generations to come. The campaign has also raised consumer awareness about the threat to ocean habitats around the world.
La Mer founder Dr Max Huber was inspired by the ocean. As a tribute to him, the brand continues only to use sea kelp – sustainably hand-harvested from protected waters off the coast of Vancouver Island, Canada – in its nutrient-rich ‘miracle broth’ which lies at the heart of every La Mer product.
The Blue Heart Oceans Fund campaign coincides with World Oceans Day which took place on 8 June. The annual event, created in 1992, was made official by the United Nations in 2009. The day recognises the importance of the sea as a vital ecosystem, and encourages action to preserve its delicate habitats and wildlife.
