The serviced Läderach chocolate counter allows travellers to choose from a dozen different flavours of freshly hand-made chocolates supplied directly from Switzerland |
GERMANY. Swiss gourmet chocolatier Läderach has partnered with leading travel retailer Gebr Heinemann to sell fresh chocolate at Frankfurt Airport.
The fresh chocolates are sold over the counter at the newly designed Gebr Heinemann flagship outlet at Terminal B-East. The exclusive co-operation covers the high-traffic months until the end of the year.
Travellers can choose from a dozen different flavours of freshly hand-made chocolates, supplied directly from Switzerland. The chocolate is sold by weight over the counter or as a whole slab in a break-free gift pack.
“The freedom of choice for shoppers and the guaranteed freshness of the chocolates bring a unique and new chocolate experience to the travel retail environment,” said Confiseur Läderach Managing Director Ralph Siegl.
Läderach and Gebr Heinemann are bringing a new sales concept for chocolate in the travel retail market as they bring a serviced chocolate counter to the airport, said Siegl.
“Chocolate loses aroma and taste on the shelf after a short while,” he commented. “It is only by managing the freshness with the Läderach counter that shoppers will benefit from a true fresh chocolate taste experience.”
For Läderach, the temporary outlet at Frankfurt Airport has been developed to boost awareness of the Swiss artisanal chocolate brand.
The company runs the largest chain of chocolate boutiques in Switzerland (Merkur). It has been providing products to top professionals in hotels and gastronomy as well as to fellow chocolatiers across the world, and is now expanding its presence in Germany.
The first Läderach street shop in Germany opened in Karlsruhe on 2 November and complements some 20 shop-in-shop outlets across the country.
