Lagardère Travel Retail seals contract to operate four new restaurants at Madinah Airport

SAUDI ARABIA. Lagardère Travel Retail has agreed a contract to operate four new restaurants at Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (Madinah Airport) following a tender win.

The dining concepts include Middle East restaurant brand Sawa and three Lagardère Travel Retail international proprietary brands in Marché, Trib’s and So Coffee. All are set to open in the first quarter of 2025.

Lagardère Travel Retail Saudi Arabia CEO Melanie Guilldou and Tibah Airports CEO Sofiane Abdessalem ink the contract

A contract signing ceremony took place this week, attended by recently appointed Lagardère Travel Retail Saudi Arabia CEO Melanie Guilldou (see our story here) and Sofiane Abdessalem, CEO of Tibah Airports, the Madinah Airport operator.

Guilldou said: “These new openings will complement our existing travel essentials and duty-free stores, extending our presence across three business lines at Madinah Airport and marking a significant step forward for our growth within the country and region.”

Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport is the fourth busiest in Saudi Arabia. It is operated and developed under a 25-year concession by a consortium made up of Türkiye’s TAV Airports, and Saudi Oger Limited and Al Rajhi Holding Group, both of Saudi Arabia.

Madinah Airport, particularly popular with religious tourists, served 9.4 million passengers in 2023. Development work will raise its capacity to 17 million by 2027. ‍
