SINGAPORE. Lagardère Travel Retail has been awarded the master duty-free & general merchandise concession at Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC)’s HarbourFront Passenger Terminal and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. The contract begins in July.
Lagardère Travel Retail replaces long-time incumbent DFS Group, which chose not to bid on the business.
SCC serves as a key gateway to Indonesia’s Riau islands of Batam and Bintan as well as Desaru in Malaysia, making it a key hub for both leisure and business travellers.
SCC is also a key turnaround port for luxury and expedition cruise ships on world voyages.

This strategic partnership with Singapore Cruise Centre, which manages and operates three ferry terminals and one international cruise terminal in Singapore, marks another key milestone in Lagardère Travel Retail’s Asia expansion, the company observed.
Lagardère Travel Retail Singapore said it offers complete operations across all three travel retail business lines – duty free, travel essentials and food & beverage – in order to maximise the operational and commercial value it delivers to landlords and brands, and to create seamless experiences for passengers.
Lagardère Travel Retail explained that it will embark on a phased renovation to unveil a refreshed and elevated retail experience. This will be notable for a strong sense of place delivered through the new store design.
That emphasis on localised theming and associated immersive retail experiences is exemplified by the company’s Discover Singapore concept at Changi Airport, the retailer noted.

Beyond the core duty-free categories of wines & spirits, tobacco, beauty and confectionery, Lagardère Travel Retail will expand its offer to include travel essentials and fresh grab-and-go food, thus catering to the needs of passengers commuting by ferries or holidaymakers journeying to neighbouring resort destinations.
The company said the SCC opening builds on the company’s longstanding expertise as a trusted regional partner with a wide network of concessions at Changi Airport and as the operator of Marché restaurants in selected tourist locations.
The new contract also reinforces a commitment to delivering exceptional retail and dining experiences, Lagardère Travel Retail said.
Lagardère Travel Retail Singapore CEO Ann Pang commented: “We are proud to embark on this long-term collaboration with Singapore Cruise Centre to elevate the travel retail experience for ferry and cruise passengers.
“As Singapore advances towards its ‘Tourism 2040’ vision, we are proud to contribute to the nation’s progress by delivering world-class retail and dining experiences at this key connectivity hub.
“With SCC playing a vital role in the Fly-Ferry arrangement with Changi Airport, this alliance presents us with a great opportunity to support the development of Singapore’s integrated travel ecosystem. We are confident that our expertise and innovative approach will give travellers exceptional retail experiences at Singapore Cruise Centre.”
Singapore Cruise Centre CEO Jacqueline Tan added: “Our partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail marks an exciting new chapter in our commitment to provide innovative sea passenger terminal services and add value to waterfront developments.
“We are excited to realise the terminals’ upgrade and with Lagardère Travel Retail’s new concept and curated offer to enhance passengers’ overall travel experience at the terminal, making it more appealing to both leisure and business travellers.” ✈
